"When Elsie de Wolfe invented the vocation of interior decorator in 1905, she informed her friends and potential clients of the fact by sending out cards engraved with her name and address, and a discreet announcement of her service". This is not 1905, consider this my calling card.
For once I am happy I can't afford his services anyway! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI don't mean to be negative about Z.P.'s talents, but I really don't think that that house would get any press if it were not designed by Zack Posen (the brand).
ReplyDeletethere are actually some part of the project that I really like. But truly, one of the main critiques I have of the project - is the DREADFUL photography.
ReplyDeleteEeek, you're right about the photography, Scooter. Again, I'm sorry to sound so negative about his design. There are some nice aspects, it just seems to be uninspired, and unoriginal. Which is, of course, ironic coming from such an innovative fashion designer.
ReplyDeleteScott, do not apologize for your opin-on anything. And feel very good about it in this case. I can not decide- it is not the photography-it is the palette. the peach the red the blue-that fern! that velvet chair by it. (very funeral parlor) No you are spot on about it all. pgt
ReplyDeleteAwe, well okay! Ha-Thanks for making me feel less of a jerk about it. It is very "funeral parlor", isn't it?
ReplyDeleteShockingly you chose the least offensive photograph for this post. I really expected more from him. It doesn't even look like imitation miles redd to me -it looks like the apartment of a 3rd rate drag queen in pittsburgh circa 1991 -other than the bathroom which is ala Redd.
ReplyDeleteOh my, Stefan, that was a very descriptive comment -gave me chills. Yeah, I had higher expectations for the design before I saw the pictures. I must admit that I was let down.
ReplyDeletemy dearest scott!!!
ReplyDeletei am with you all the way.
the difference between fashion design and interior design is a big one!!
you can always just change out of a ugly dress.
interiors are a bit more complicated.
no?
hugs!! xxx's
Renee, darling, you are always right. It was a shocking surprise to see Mr. Posen's design. Well, he's famous, handsome, rich, and an extremely talented fashion designer -THANK G*D he's not so good at interior design too... enough all ready! : )
ReplyDeleteWow... anyone interested should read this interview with Posen:

Looks like we have another Tom Ford on our hands...
Please don't feel bad - I agree one doesn't like to criticise needlessly but it is really very very unattractive and those two bedrooms are incredibly ugly - almost like a parody of a 1970s disco queens boudoir or like something out of a Brian De Palma film and I don't mean that in a good way. xo.
ReplyDeleteAs mother would say: "YUCKA YUCKA YUCKA!!" He really annoys me, always has, and this just seals the deal.
ReplyDeleteOMG. I thought great design in any arena translated! Not! I am very open when it comes to design but frankly this space makes me want to vomit. I can not beleive that someone so talented would allow their stamp of approval on something so talentless. I would really expect much more.
ReplyDeleteIt's hideous. Every inch. If Sean John "Diddy" Combs hadn't invested $100M into Zac's fashion business he might not still be around. He is hugely talented in this arena, but he has given so many outfits to the "stars" so they could be seen in them, the real buyers of this apparel don't want to be in that league, you know?
ReplyDeleteOh, and just one more little thing: we don't know who actually "owns" the building do we?
ReplyDeleteYikes, I see what you all mean.
ReplyDeleteYes, reminds me of many a singer's failed crossover attempts into acting. Sometimes it should be enough excelling in one particular realm.
Scott, It's the Madonna Inn revistied!!! It's Moonstruck with money or worst, my Uncle Bill circa 1970's. You are so right or is this a joke?
ReplyDeleteYeah...AD summed it up and you are absolutely entitled to give an honest critique! Especially on your own blog...it's so damn refreshing!
ReplyDeleteThe color palette does disturb me. So often you can abandon oneself with all colors, this just does not work!

If someone was handing out "Comment of the Week Awards," Stefan would have just swept the field.
ReplyDeleteScott -
ReplyDeleteIt's straight-up, balls-out horrendous.
And PS: Have I completely lost your interest with too many meat-posts?
I hope not.
Reminds me of some of the suburban gaudy designs I see around here in the Mac mansions, however I do like lots of color.
ReplyDeleteNice to see you are still blogging.
ReplyDeleteI came here awhile back and you hadn't posted in awhile so I wasn't sure what to expect when I came back today to check it out.
Although, a month is a bit of a long time too.
Anyway, like I said before good to see you still blogging.
Where IS Scott Fazini?
ReplyDeleteHe seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth.
Groovy Baby!!!!!I agree with Scot....the awfulness may be the worse because of the photography. There looks to be quite a bit of effort but it just does not taste good....please pack your knives and go.
ReplyDeleteScott - in all honesty I've spent too much time in Vegas & reminds me of some of the homes I toured right off the strip. I loved an eclectic look but not this.Yes could be the photography, but it's the furniture pieces that I say, oh no! I am a bit intrigued by the wall with the gold chevron type pattern. I just may like that quite a bit in the right setting.
ReplyDeleteHave a fun 4th ~
S--
ReplyDeletePerhaps this is a case of bad photography.
Perhaps the decor is suspect.
Note that Mr P is posing there, standing, posing (Posen'?) and hardly seems at home.
That says it all.
cheers, DIANE

Scott? Scott?! Are you there? It's your mother calling....where the hell are you!?
ReplyDeleteScott? Scott?! Are you there? It's your mother calling....where the hell are you!?
ReplyDeleteJust stopping in to say hi and (clearly) we are all thinking of you. (Do answer your dear mother's plea, above. Sometime soon? Please.)
ReplyDeleteAmazing!!! Great blog!

Ouch! It is surprisingly amateurish, coming from someone so high up in the design world. You'd think one of his interior designer friends would have helped the poor guy out.
ReplyDelete-Lana
How did he come up with this train wreck? Dare I say it's worse than Gerard Butler's place?!
