I received some fantastic books for Christmas 2008, thank you Alex, one of which is H & G's Complete Guide to Interior Decoration from 1953. One of the chapters that I especially love is entitled Color is a Magic Wand. The chapter features work from some of America's very best decorators. The most interesting section of this chapter, in my opinion, is a two page spread documenting Van Day Truex's evolving apartment over a seven year span.

ReplyDeleteCBD / SR2 - You're both absolutely right - isn't it amazing?! There are aspects of these rooms that could literally be copied today and seem fresh!
ReplyDeleteYes, Stefan- It was a nice gift, and I am still enjoying it!
I have the 1970 version of this series and it's fabulous. You can see exactly where Jonathan Adler and Kelly Wearstler stole all of their ideas from.
ReplyDeleteThis is incredible...thank you for posting it! xx
