We received a decadent snow storm in the District yesterday, and I couldn't have been more thrilled! I walked about and snapped some photos. Please enjoy, if snow's your thing.

"When Elsie de Wolfe invented the vocation of interior decorator in 1905, she informed her friends and potential clients of the fact by sending out cards engraved with her name and address, and a discreet announcement of her service". This is not 1905, consider this my calling card.
Wow, you did get around! I was stuck at work, lol. Are those last pictures in a neighborhood taken on Capitol Hill? So weird -no people out and about in your pictures! LOL
ReplyDeletePS - love the 'white christmas' reference! great song :-)
ReplyDeleteThat's because I took them on my way to work -7a. It's DC, no one knows how to react to snow, so they all stay inside. The last few pics are from Logan Circle. The church pic is in Georgetown.
ReplyDeleteOnly you would appreciate the White Christmas reference!
Beautiful!....I just ended up shoveling the stuff! We got hit pretty hard In South Jersey as well...
ReplyDeleteSnow just makes everything so much more beautiful. I love the quiet when walking around - even in the middle of the day. I put my snow pix up, too. But they're the opposite of yours!
ReplyDeletelove these ... #6 is a beauty!
ReplyDeleteMr. Bluehaunt- Sorry for all the hard working shoveling, but I'm sure that you looked great out there doing it!
ReplyDeleteP.D. - I totally agree with you, and have been MAD about snow since I was a little boy. Everything seems so quiet, peaceful, and intimate. Your pics are GREAT by the way!
Pauly, baby - Thanks for the nice comment. I'm glad you enjoyed #6. It was wicked cold on the way to the bus stop that morning, but I got some very lovely shots!
i heart the snow!
ReplyDeleteall that snow hard to believe your in the south
ReplyDeleteThat fourth photo you took of the iron bench detail is stunning. It's out of another century. I feel as though Elsie de Wolfe is just about to step into frame...
ReplyDeleteDC is a beautifully historic town. Snow days are especially magical - no one ventures out into the streets. As I was taking those photos I felt completely alone. My mind, reeling as it often does, sent me to another time - so perceptive of you to notice.
ReplyDeletelooks like you had a busy day tripping about DC... i went on a wander in Dublin yesterday having a look at whats happening on the various landmark sites across the city...will get to posting my findings at some point this weekend!
ReplyDeleteC.B.D.- DC is a very small city, it's easy walk from one neighborhood to another. I can't wait to see your posted photos!
